What we did this week.

What did i learn in the past two weeks?
The first day, I realized that I have forgotten a lot of what i learned in high school spanish!  However, it is interesting that through the confusion of Dr. Roods speaking in another language many students were able to understand his message eventually.  I learned that languages and other factors of communication have a huge effect on the way that our ideas are transferred.
Day 2: Through our game of charades, I learned that it is extremely difficult for some people to communicate without spoken words.  I also learned that some people have a much higher aptitude to interpret the unspoken communication-- because I had NO idea what they were trying to communicate while another student amazingly guessed correctly.
The cryptogram presented by Dr. Rood was challenging.  Through his and the cryptograms we traded with classmates, I learned that there are many forms of communication and we are able to interpret even the seemingly impossible!
When Dr. Rood asked us about the pot vs. cocaine, I did not receive this in the way he meant it to be.  First of all, I literally have no knowledge about drugs so I could not answer it. I learned that Dr. Rood has the idea that all college students know about these things! :)
I feel like i enjoyed they cryptograms the most because we got to work with other people.  I wouldn't change anything about the class!

communication

The ability to communicate is essential to our ability to learn and know.  We must be able to communicate with those that we come in contact with in order to transfer ideas, feelings, wants, needs, and to have relationships.  In order to learn from anyone or anything there must be an ability to communicate, or successfully transfer our ideas.  To ever really know anything there must be an ability within ourselves to correspond with the world around us.
